    Patience

Patience is to have the ability and willingness to endure waiting without complaining or being upset when faced with a difficult or challenging situation. Patience means sabr. Sabr is patience, perseverance, and stead fasting. Patience is a good human trait and having an excellent attitude when facing difficulties or challenges. Patience is to stop ourselves from complaining and to be calm when facing a challenge. Every challenge or difficulty that we face is a test from Allah (SWT) to test our faith. Scholars interpret patience as to refrain from complaining. Another scholar said that patience means to listen to the Quran and Sunnah. There are many interpretations of patience but true patience is to seek help from Allah (SWT) and to be calm when facing a hardship. There are many hadeeth and ayahs from the Quran about patience. One hadeeth is “The prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said: “The attitude of a believer is amazing .All of his matters are righteous. This is only for the believer. If a joy is brought to him, he thanks Allah for it. This is better for him. If a calamity befalls him, he is patient. This is also good for him.” This is narrated by Suhayb ibn ar-Rumi. This hadeeth is telling us that the believer has an amazing attitude. When the believer is hit by a calamity by Allah (SWT), he is patient .When the believer is happy, he is patient and thankful to Allah (SWT). There are many benefits of patience. Allah has guaranteed those who are patient that He will give them rewards and blessings in Jenna. Allah loves and supports those who are patience. He guides the true believer and loves them. Allah is granting the true Muslim a clear victory. Another benefit is He forgives those who are patient and righteous. Patience is a quality for the true leaders. Allah tells us that the patience of prophet Yusuf (PBUH) brought him to a position of power and leadership. Another benefit is patience allow the true believer to turn enemies into close friends. Allah tells us that the kind and patience attitude will help the enemies become close friends .Another benefit is Allah reward the believers with Jenna for their patience .Allah will reward them with garden and beautiful silk. These are just some few important benefits if patience and there is still more benefits of patience. There are Muslims who are patient and follow the foundations and virtues of patience and perseverance. There are four foundations of patience. The four foundations are following clear conscience, demonstrating high morals, shunning Satan’s deceit, and fearing nothing but Allah. Allah has given every person a clear conscience to let him know what is wrong and right. Every person knows how to distinguish from right and wrong. Every person has argued to follow his desires in life. The true believer ignores his desires and does the right things in life. People who demonstrate high morals have patience. The believer’s character is superior because of their consistent and high morality. The true believer is patient and demonstrates high morals by being kind, right, caring, calm, and patient. Another foundation is shunning Satan’s deceit. The true believer knows how to shun Satan. Satan cannot influence those who are patient and strong in their faith. Satan can influence those who are weak and follow their true desires by listening to Satan. The last foundation is fearing nothing but Allah (SWT).There are people who do not truly believe in Allah and his power are weak Muslims. The weak Muslims have many fears .The true believer should only fear Allah. Allah tells us in the Quran that: “It was only Satan frightening you through his friends. But do not fear them, fear me, if you are the believers.”Allah tells us to only fear him and to not fear Satan. If you are a true believer with patience, you will only fear Allah. The virtue of patience in Islam is to be patient, not complain, be grateful, calm and approach each problem with aspect of patience, and to have beautiful patience like Prophet Ayyoub.

    Prophet Ayyoub (pbuh)

Prophet Ayyoub was one children of Prophet Ibrahim a nephew of Prophet Ya’qoub, a grandson of Prophet Ishaq, and his wife was a granddaughter of Prophet Yusuf... He was sent by Allah to improve the people of the north eastern corner of Palestine When Ayyoub (pbuh) was chosen to be the Prophet, he started to teach the people about God and His religion. He advised the people to perform good and shun evil. As usual with all the Prophets very few people believed in him in the beginning but gradually the number of his followers began to increase. Prophet Ayyoub was a very prosperous man. He had magnificent health, wealth, children, companions, land, and a supportive wife. He was a man with firm faith in Allah. He was also not an arrogant man. Prophet Ayyoub was living in comfort and peace until Allah (swt) decided to test Ayyoub.
He suffered from a number of calamities but did not utter a single word of complaint. One day his big farm was attacked by the thieves. They killed many of his servants and carried away forcibly all his cattle. His roof collapsed on his family killing all of his children. All of his friends left him. His wife Raceme was the only one who helped him through all of his hardships. Ayyoub did not feel sorry of what happened to him. Instead he bent down in submission to Allah (swt) saying that “He is the one who gives and He is the one that takes.” He never cried or gave a deep sigh. He showed that his children and possessions were gifts from Allah. A few years later, Prophet Ayyoub (pbuh) suffered from a serious skin disease. His skin was covered wit sores all over and his skin was beginning to rot.
His wife told him to make duaa to Allah and Prophet Ayyoub did. He said, “Truly adversity has afflicted me and You are Most Merciful of all who show mercy.” (21: 83) Allah turned to Prophet Ayyoub (pbuh) with mercy. Allah commanded Ayyoub to hit his foot on the ground and then water from the spring will come out. He took a bath in the water and got cured from the disease. After he was cured, he quickly knelt and started to pray to Allah showing him that he was very thankful for Allah’s gratitude. Prophet Ayyoub never forgot of Allah’s favors, mercy and love. Prophet Ayyoub was very patient. He did not complain ever when his family died or when he became sick. The Quran says, "And surely we try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and crops, but give glad-tidings to the steadfast, who when a misfortune befalls them, say lo! We are Allah's (possession of Allah) and to Him shall we surely return. Such are they on who are blessings from their Lord, and mercy. Such are the rightly-guided." (2: 155-157) prophet Ayyoub knew that Allah is testing him because He loved him. Prophet Ayyoub never lost hope.

With Prophet Ayyoub very ill his wife decided to work as a servant to bring food to the table for her husband. When people stopped asking her for work she sold her hair and nails. Prophet Ayyoub’s wife told him to make duaa to Allah (SWT) and Prophet Ayyoub did because he saw all that his wife was doing for him.
